Redcar Show The Same Symptoms At Medicals
Lessons were not learned from the home game with Medicals, that report could be reprinted word for word.
Medical kicked off on a bitterly cold, but bright day in Newcastle, due to traffic problems 5 of Redcar’s players arrived late so the KO was delayed for 10 mins, but they were quickly into action and Medicals put them under pressure from the start, they kept Redcar pinned down in the 22 and after 10 mins they scored from a quickly taken tap penalty, 7 – 0.
The game seesawed a bit with neither side having an advantage, on 22 mins Medicals had a penalty attempt at goal, but missed and then on 30 mins Redcar centre Ben Durrans was yellow carded for a tip tackle, this gave Medicals a bit more space and 5 mins later from a scrum in Redcar’s 22, the scrum half dummied and jinked over for a try, 14 – 0. Just before half time when Redcar were back to full strength, winger Craig Newlands scored a good try following some slick handling from the backs, this was converted by Danny Addison, 14 – 7.
Half Time Medicals 14 Redcar 7
Redcar restarted the game but it was Medicals who took the initiative and on 50 mins they caught Redcar napping, when they were awarded a penalty just outside the 22, another quick tap and the player jinked his way to the line without a glove being laid on him, scoring a very easy try under the posts, 21 – 7. From the restart Medicals knocked on and the ball was played by a player in front of him, so was offside, No.8 James Cochrane took a quick tap and with some good play between forwards and backs Redcar were rewarded with a try from winger Matty Curry, 21 – 12. As the game progressed the weather turned nasty and in the final 10 mins there was a hail, sleet and rain downpour, so I had to put the camera away and run for cover, as I did Medicals scored their 4th try and in the last minute, Michael Tucker scored Redcar’s 3rd to bring the final total to Medicals 28 Redcar 17.
