Hard fought Game Ended In Defeat For Redcar
Redcar made a lively start then took their foot off the accelerator and tried to play catch up.
Novos kicked off on a remarkably calm, clear day at Redcar, after a very wet and stormy few days and it was only the valiant efforts of Derek and his team, working tirelessly pumping water off the pitch, that the game was played at all.
Redcar soon got into their stride and looked like the team of old, with winger Danny Addison scoring after only 5 mins, 5 – 0. This was followed up 7 mins later with a try from centre Ben Durrans, which was converted by Danny Addison, 12 – 0. Then Novos seemed to wake up and from a penalty and lineout they drove over the Redcar line to score, 12 – 5. Redcar hit back on 20 mins with a penalty from Danny Addison, 15 – 5. Novos responded with two well taken tries on 25 and 27 mins and Redcar winger Danny Addison, was shown the yellow card for a bit of hand-bagging with a Novos player, that brought half time.
Half Time Redcar 15 Novos 26
Redcar restarted the game and Novos continued where they had left off and scored two tries and a penalty to take the score to 15 – 36 and Redcar looked all at sea, but a never say die attitude was adopted and they threw everything at Novos and villain turned hero Danny Addison scored two further tries on 56 and 75 mins,(27 – 36), Novos were down to 14 men for two periods, towards the closing stages of the game, because of two yellow cards, as they desperately defended their winning lead, but in the end it was too much too late for Redcar and Novos deservedly took the spoils.
Final Score Redcar 27 Novocastrians 36.
